Colonial Golf Tournament

Every year my Father-in-law gets passes to the Colonial Golf Tournament in Ft Worth. I, personally, do not really care for golf, which is surprising considering my families involvement in golf. However, with the passes we have, we get treated to an air conditioned suite with free food and an open bar. I could care less about the open bar but bring on the free food! :) The food yesterday was sooo good. And it's nice to not have to pay $4 for a bottle of water. The waitresses just swooned over my boys. I had to tell John that he wasn't allowed to stroll through the place alone with either of the boys. They are instant chic magnets! Even when I had Preston in the restroom changing his poopy diaper, there were girls oogling over him. But who can blame them?? I mean I do have some pretty cute boys!

After we were all tired and ready to leave, we were heading to the entrance to catch the bus back to our car. Carter got to see Kenny Perry and he stopped and gave him one of his golf balls. Carter was so excited!! We will have to put it in a little box for him to keep. Unfortunately, they do not allow cameras in there otherwise I would have gotten a picture.

We ended the day with pizza at Amore's. It was such a fun filled afternoon that we hope we can continue for years to come.

23 Week Doctor Appointment

I just got home from my 23 week doctor appointment. It was very uneventful. My blood pressure was 117/74...I'm not sure why my blood pressure actually lowers during pregnancy. I thought it usually goes up. I have gained 5 pounds since my 19 week check up. When I went at 20 weeks due to contractions I had gained 4 pounds in that one week alone. Not sure what happened. So, only 1 pound in 3 weeks isn't too shabby, especially with traveling this past week and having Taco Bueno last night for dinner. Dr. Jacoby measured my uterus for the first time this pregnancy and I'm right on for 23 weeks. I'm hoping it stays like that for the rest of my pregnancy. With Preston, at 35 weeks I was already measuring like 41 weeks or something crazy like that. He is also sitting breach which I'm not worried about at all. I know he will flip but with being a c-section he can be in any position he likes. I go back in another 4 weeks and will have a sono at that appointment. He will check on the cyst and I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will be gone! Oh, and they also gave me the yummy glucose drink to drink before my next appointment. I hate drinking that stuff!! I think I read that there is 50 mg of sugar in it. I always feel like I'm going to puke after drinking it...way too much sugar for me!!! The nurse told me they switched from the orange flavor to the fruit punch and it is much better. We will see on June 24th. Should make for an interesting sonogram too for him to have that much sugar. Hopefully he will stay still long enough for her to get the images she needs.

Big Boy!

Preston has been feeling heavier lately and so I decided to weigh him. I'm not sure how accurate it is since I get on the scale with him and then without him but today he weighed a whopping 21.6 pounds!!!! That is only 6-7 pounds lighter than Carter and they are 2 1/2 years apart.

Trip to Oregon

We had a great time visiting John's Grandpa in Oregon. It is neat to see four generations of Manning's under one roof!! We flew into Portland on Thursday, the 21st. The boys did such a great job!! I knew Carter would do great but was a little worried about Preston. Since he has learned to crawl the last thing he wants to do is sit in some one's lap for 4 hours. He did such a good job, though. He ate a bottle on take off and actually fell asleep on me during the flight. I haven't had him sleep on me since he was a newborn so it was a nice treat. Carter watched Scooby Do and Barney and ate chicken nuggets. There was a little girl about the same age as him sitting right in front of him so they played quite a bit between the seats.

John's parents picked us up from the airport as they flew in two days before us. Beckie picked up some baby food which was a life saver! One less thing to pack when you are traveling with a family of four is always better! They also took our Pack n' Play with them for Preston. I've always wondered why families travel with so much luggage and I now know why. I remember the days of just having one suit case! :)

Thursday night we stayed in and got settled. The kids had a hard time going to sleep that night but eventually fell asleep. The adults stayed up and played Hand and Foot.

The kids woke up bright and early at 5:45 Friday morning. I was not ready to get up as I was still trying to put Preston to sleep at 11:30 the night before. But it did allow us to get an early start. We all got dressed and headed into Portland. We ate lunch at The Original Pancake House. This was actually the ORIGINAL restaurant and it really does look like a house. After a delicious breakfast we rode the Portland Aerial Tram. It was such a clear day and could see Mt. Hood and Mt. St. Helens. We got some great pictures of both mountains. It was fun to use our new camera!!

Saturday was the day I was looking forward to the most! We went to Tillamook Cheese Factory. We ate grilled cheese sandwiches and had Tillamook ice cream. It was so yummy!!! From there, we drove a little bit and went to a coastal town called Garibaldi. We took a train ride from Garibaldi to Rockaway Beach. The train ride is called the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad. The train was pulled by a steam engine and it was so much fun! We went right along the coast the whole way. It was cold since we were right on the coast but it didn't stop Preston from going to sleep. I couldn't believe he slept the whole way there and they whole way back. He is normally such a light sleeper but he slept through all of the rumble of the train and even the whistle of the train. It was a very fun and exhausting day!

We got a much later start on Sunday. I think the kids were finally used to the time change and sleeping in an unfamiliar place. We headed out to Lincoln City which is another coastal town. We ate lunch at Mo's. There was such a long line when we got there around 1 and it was still there when we were leaving between 3 and 4. I don't think the line ever ended. Carter had four butterflied fried shrimp and ate every last one of them. It's crazy how much he loves seafood! Preston ate saltine crackers for the first time while we were there. He loved them!! I think he will really like anything we put in front of him.

After Mo's, Grandpa wanted to show us where he goes for fun...The Casino!! John's parents took care of the kids and Grandpa, John and I went in to play some slots. I was surprised at how fast you can lose money while playing penny slots. It was fun though and neat to see what Grandpa does for fun.

After only three short fun filled days, it was time for us to pack and head back home. We left Grandpa's house at 9 on Monday morning and flew back to Dallas. It is nice to be home but we definitely will miss Grandpa. The kids are still trying to adjust with all of the travel. Carter has been unusually fussy with multiple tantrums and we haven't even been home for 24 hours. Preston is excited to finally get to crawl where ever he wants. You don't really realize how baby proof your own house is until you go somewhere that isn't baby proof with a crawler! :)

I am still going through pictures and will post those as soon as I get them all downloaded.

Like Father Like Son

This is how we found Carter sleeping tonight. He is definitely all boy!! :)

Playing

Since Preston has learned to crawl, his whole world is expanding. He can now get to the things he has wanted to play with for so long, like his kitchen!

No More Army Crawling

Preston is now fully crawling! I can't believe how fast it all happened. It seems like this time last week we would just roll everywhere he wanted to go. Now he gets on all fours and goes. He hates the tile which is a little funny. As soon as he gets on the tile in the kitchen he raises his knees off the ground with his hiney straight in the air. It reminds me of my cousin, Brandi, when she was little. They used to call it "going to the moon." You would tell her to go the moon and she would do exactly that. So cute!!! So, he raises his bottom high into the air and cries until someone rescues him and puts him back on the carpet. The funniest thing though is that he will quickly come back into the kitchen and do it all over again.

Another Soccer Player

I can finally feel Baby #3 moving on a regular basis. It is the most amazing yet a little freaky feeling in the world! I have been randomly feeling him move for a while now but now it is real kicks and turns instead of the little bubble feeling. It looks like he is going to be just as much a mover and kicker as Preston. I always joked that Preston was going to come out running around the hospital. And to this day, he is very wiggly.

I love the feeling of Baby moving! It helps give a little reassurance that he is doing okay in there and gives me one less thing to worry about. This is by far my favorite thing about being pregnant!! And since this is most likely my last pregnancy, I am cherishing every moment of it. I know the rest of this pregnancy is going to go by way faster than I would like but I am looking forward to all of the days ahead with my three boys!

Preston is Crawling!!

Preston has hit a new milestone this week and has started crawling! Carter didn't crawl until he was 13 months old so it is so neat to see Preston doing it at 9 months. Right now he rocks on all fours and sometimes will take a couple of "steps" then flops down on his belly and starts to army crawl. It is so cute! Carter, on the other hand, isn't so impressed. He is getting really upset at the fact that Preston is starting to take his toys and get into his stuff. We kept warning him that this day would come and it's just going to get worse. So, it's an adjustment for all of us. I am so excited but I know I will soon miss the days of putting him down with a toy and him not moving. I will have to get a video of it soon so everyone can see what a big boy he is!

The Best Carter in the World

Before Carter had a brother, we always told him that he was the best son and our favorite son in the world. John even made up a song about it when Carter was a newborn and it calmed him down instantly. Well, it came up the other day and I couldn't really figure out what to say since we now have two sons, technically three. Before I even had a chance to come up with something clever, Carter shouted out, "I"m the best Carter in the World!!" And I immediately jumped on board. So now he reminds us daily that he is the best Carter in the World and I couldn't agree more.

He has moved on to tell me that Preston is the best Preston in the world, Baby is the best baby, I'm the best mommy, and John is the best daddy. It is amazing what a three year old can come up with!

Preston's New Trick

Meal time is one of Preston's favorite times. I think we are going to be in big trouble with having 3 boys. Saying that Preston loves to eat is an understatement. Carter always loved cheerios but he would eat them one at a time and even take like 5 bites out of one cheerio. Preston, on the other hand, eats cheerios by the handfuls.

Preston has also learned how to blow strawberries and especially loves to do it when he is eating. It is funny the first few times he does it but it is turning out to be a huge mess. After a meal, he will have splatters of food all over him, his tray and me. He thinks it's the funniest thing though. And I must admit, he is pretty darn cute while he is doing it!

Mother's Day 2009

Every year John plans Mother's Day for his mom, my mom and myself. He manages to keep all of the details a surprise until the day of. This year we went to the Warick Melrose Hotel in Dallas. It was beautiful. The hotel was absolutely beautiful and the brunch was amazing. They had a kids buffet with pasta, peanut butter and jelly and chicken fingers. However, Carter would rather eat shrimp and crab! I don't think he even touched the kids food.

Carter was such a big boy. He was so good the whole time! In his words he is "the best Carter in the world!" I couldn't agree more!

We are very fortunate to have both John's parents live here as well as my parents. It is so enjoyable to spend such a special day with both of our moms.

It is so nice to get to spend Mother's Day with my mom every year! She is my best friend!

The Grandmothers loved the presents that Carter made for them. I let Carter pick what he wanted to get them this year. We were driving and I asked him what he wanted to get for his Grandma and his MiMi and he thought for a minute and said "a horse puzzle." It actually took me a little bit to figure out what he was saying because it was so random. However, I obliged and I drew a horse on a piece of foam craft paper and let him paint. I let him choose the colors and everything. I then cut the horse into a puzzle. He was so proud and the Grandmothers loved it. We also made a flower with hand prints of both boys which turned out great too.

Rude Comments

It cracks me up at the comments people make to pregnant women. I was on the receiving end of countless rude comments while pregnant with Preston.

"Are you sure there aren't twins in there?"
"Do you really think you are going to make it to your due date?"
and they go on and on...

Well, at 20 weeks they have already started. While checking out at Target the other day the cashier asked how far along I am and when I told her 20 weeks, her reaction was, "Wow, you're going to be huge!"

Really?!? Is it really necessary to make such comments??? This is what happens when a 4'11" woman has a baby, especially big babies!!

I have also heard many many comments on having kids 13 months apart.

"How did that happen?"
"Have you figured out what causes that?"
and the best one..."You know they make pills for that."

No, we did not plan on having kids so close in age but that was what God had planned for us. We are extremely blessed and so excited to have three boys that will grow up close in age. I just know they will all be the best of friends.

My New Adventure

I have decided to undertake a new adventure that I have been dreaming about for a long time. I have always had a passion for photography and treasure all of the moments I have captured from high school, college, my family, and especially my kids. I have finally decided that I could probably be pretty good at it and even make some money.

Two weeks ago I bought my first professional digital SLR camera. I got a Canon EOS 30D and so far I'm loving it!! I have yet to figure out how to actually work all of the settings but will hopefully get it down soon. I am reading the manual as well as another book I bought specifically about this camera. I am also planning to take a few classes through Collin County Community College's Continuing Education programs. I took one of their classes earlier this year for a basic point and shoot camera and enjoyed it.

I have been extremely blessed in the fact that one of my good friends, who is a photographer, has taken me under her wing. Sharon with Brannick Photography is a great photographer and has taken all of our family's pictures since Preston was born. I will be forever grateful for all she is helping me with.

Also, Ken Birdsell, with The Image After, as been an awesome help. He has been in the photography business for a long time and is full of knowledge. I know with Sharon and Ken's help I will be sucsessfull!

John has been such a great supporting husband in this journey. He is so encouraging and is just as excited about it as I am. He motivates me to learn all I can and is truly my number one supporter. I couldn't ask for a better husband!!

I am very nervous as I have never started anything like this and it can be very overwhelming. I am starting a separate blog just for my photography. I will hopefully start posting to it soon as I am learning and getting things off the ground.

Pregnancy Bumps

Along with finding out we are having another boy last week, they also found that Baby has an Isolated Choroid Plexus Cyst. It isn't uncommon to have and it should clear up on its own. I spoke to my pediatrician about it and he agreed that it isn't really anything to worry about as long as it resolves itself before birth. He said that it doesn't effect his brain development at all and if it doesn't go away before birth he will refer me to a neurosurgeon to follow it. I am scheduled to have another sono in 7 more weeks to check the status. I am confident that it isn't anything to worry about but will be relieved to see it gone!

I have also started having contractions constantly. I went to the doctor yesterday to check on it and everything looks great. He doesn't know why I am having so many so early. He gave me a medication that is supposed to calm my uterus and hopefully stop them or at least make them livable. Right now they are very painful. Fortunately, they aren't causing anything to change. It worries me though. I don't want to have another preemie! I am trying to take it as easy as possible while having a three year old and a nine month old.

It's A Boy!

We confirmed last week that we are having our third boy! We are very excited to add another boy to the mix especially since they will all be so close in age. As of right now, we are going to move Preston into Carter's room and Baby will take over the nursery. It should be interesting considering how light of a sleeper Preston is. I can't even go into Preston's room to check on him without waking him up. I am hoping he will get used to the change fairly quickly.

Baby's Boy Parts :)

Baby's Profile

He haven't chosen a name yet. I have had a girl's name picked out since I was little and wouldn't you know it, I would never get that little girl. We have been having a difficult time coming up with boy names. We have it narrowed down but haven't finalized it yet. Carter is dead set on naming him Emerson. We still don't know where he came up with that name but I don't think we are naming him that.

Carter is very aware of the baby and hugs and kisses my belly almost everyday. He has already added him to his nightly prayers. It is very sweet. All Preston knows is that my belly is getting big and his legs barely fit around my growing belly! :)
